Ah here. H&A is way too sad these days. First was the whole Miles/Rabbit scenario, and now today Leah and VJ visited Vinnie’s grave to say goodbye. That’s enough sadness now, I thought.

Elijah didn’t think so, though. He threw in a tragic story about his dad dying on a fishing trip. I’m not able for this.

Aden’s stupid brother had a flashback and now thinks he killed their da. It looks to me like the dad was drink-driving and had a crash. If only they hadn’t buried him, they’d be ok with the cops.

Romeo set up a romantic date with Annie in the gym. Possibly inspired by Ruby’s seduction of Geoff using fairy lights, he lit a load of candles. The Campbells are suckers for small light sources.

I think they should have done another take for the first scene in this episode (the one with Miles and Elijah).

Although I suppose no amount of amazing acting could take away from the madness of the story of Vinnie’s decline. Run over by a tractor. Died of septicemia. It’s nearly as good as the woman in Fair City who went to Dundrum to go shopping and never came back.

Elijah has finally revealed his secret, and it was a double-barrelled one. Firstly, he told Miles that Vinnie didn’t die in prison. This was news to Miles, but not to us. Leah knew he was alive and in hiding from the Teddy bear incident. But Elijah also revealed that Vinnie has died recently and the reverend was the last one to see him alive. Shocking stuff. How will Leah reacts when she finds out the truth? Go mental for five minutes and then get over it is my prediction. Then she’ll make her move on him. Maybe she’ll vomit on him like she did with Roman. What a winner.

Looks like Martha will be getting back with Roman now. Poor oul’ Jack all the same. Sure haven’t we been saying for years that his inept policing would be the death of him?

Melody looked a bit like Carrie at the formal, and was equally as mad.

Kane magically got out of jail and wants Kirsty back. Pity that didn’t work for the V-man back in the day; I reckon he would have had more success.

Oh, and Belle may as well move into the hospital now. Irene spends half her time there, as it is.

Vinnier is in True Blood , a vampire show by Alan Ball. His character likes to “take it to the next level” with everyone in town. He hasn’t yet been sent to jail, or worn a giant teddy bear suit. There’s no sign of Leah either. It’s very confusing.

Spin off series

I have been of the opinion for some time that Home and Away should develop a number of spin off series. Here are a few ideas on what they might be.

“Justice Bellingham PI” – Morag interferes and meddles in all manner of legal shenaningans. She never fails to uncover those who are trying to pull an illegal fast one.

“The bear essentials” – By day Vinnie Patterson journeys around children’s parties dressed as a bear. By night he goes out to the bush and leads a sleuth of bears in a never-ending quest for honey.

“Blunderers in blue” – Jack and Fitzy investigate local crime but invariably make a mess of it. Jack ignores every rule in the book and discusses his cases openly in the diner or the surf club. They somehow catch their suspects and Jack gets a dressing down from the Sarge who says that he’s in the last chance saloon. “Fitzy and Jack: pathetic” could be an alternative title.

“Auld ones” – Colleen Smart and Madge Wilkins present a lifestyles magazine show. Cooking tips, fashion advise on mad outfits and any gossip doing the rounds is dispensed with gusto.
