First things first, Rhys is in Raw?

Tuesday, January 29th, 2013

Eh…is that Rhys Sutherland in the ads for RTE’s Raw? How did that come about? Is he Aussie (Aussie Aussie) in the show? Is he very very angry in the show? What mad twist of fate is this? And will all of his Summer Bay buds be coming over to visit him?

That has just blown my mind.

Right, anyway, in today’s episode…Sid’s grand after his minor bashing, Casey and Sasha are love’s young dream, and Tamara the real person showed up. She hit Casey a box for having another woman on the go. Feisty.

The whole Kyle aspect of the Casey storyline is very confusing to me. Why did Kyle go to the Bay with The Boize? Why is he helping them? Isn’t he worried he’ll be done for attempted murder?

Sly one April

April has finally come to her senses, shaken off the River Boy, and realised Dex is the man for her. She elbowed her way into Dex and Lottie’s rock hunt, pretended to sprain her ankle, and told Nurse Walker she loves him. I hope she means it this time, the changeable wench!

The scriptwriters are having a great laugh with Harvey. This week alone they’ve invented a rigged election and a dead son, none of which he told Roo about, until he had to. Actually ,Sid told her about the dead son. Just call him Sid Smart. No-one in that town can keep their mouth shut.

So, what will Harvey’s next invented past storyline be? Maybe he pole-danced with Martha, or people-smuggled with Hugo? Perhaps he and Rhys were workout buddies, or he went to art class with Hayley. The possibilities are endless.

Lastly, does this mean Alf will be appointed to council? That would change the Bay forever (again)!

Yes! A murder mystery!

Stu the Sasha Basha is dead. He hasn’t been seen since trying to get Sasha into his car. Shortly afterwards, she came home crying. Curious…

Of course angry doc Sid Walker is a suspect, having done some pre-death bashing of Stewart. Imagine if Rhys came back, and he and Sid formed an Angry Dads Alliance. The River Boys would be shaking in their boots.

Development Denis is in trouble as he moved Stu’s body from the resort to the caravan park. What an amazingly stupid (and sly) thing to do.

The paparazzi, sorry, I mean ONE paparazzo, is after Liam and Bianca. That’s pretty odd as Liam has been off the celebrity circuit for ages. Bianca is worried how this will affect the wedding, which, in true SB-time-warp-style, is tomorrow.

Cat show at Mangrove River

So, Miles told Leah ’twas him who helped Veej write to Elijah.  Leah went mental, then calmed down and called around to the caravan park with a confession.  She’s been writing to Elijah every day since he left.  Where in the name of God did she get the time to do that?  No wonder she’s so flustered.

All this talk of Elijah makes me think he might be coming back.  Normally when someone leaves the Bay, they’re never/rarely heard of again.  For example, Dani, Jade, Kirsty, Cassie, Rhys, Shelly, Tasha, Geoff, Robbie, and the list goes on.

In another unusual H&A move, no-one has found out about Hugo’s money.  Well, Charlie knows, but it’s not public knowledge.  What’s that about?  Anyway well done to the writers for not following their usual path!

Rhys Sutherland

Given that we’ve no new episodes to discuss this week, I thought it was time to delve into the archives again and examine another character from the Bay’s glorious history.

If Rhys had an anger meter it would go up to 11, and rarely drop below 10. He moved to the bay with his wife Shelly and his family many years ago. They took over the caravan park. Rhys looked a bit like a fish and was a pretty wooden character. I could never figure out why Shelly went out with him.

Rhys and Shelly had 3 daughters: the “twins” Kirsty & Jade and Dani. Dani was a bit of a moany hole. She went out with Will Smyth until she realised that he wasn’t the Hollywood star of Independence Day and Men in Black. She then went out with Josh West who was a tool. Then she was raped by Kane Phillips. Back in those days, they used to say “attack” rather than “rape”. Kirsty found this irresistible and eloped with her sister’s rapist.  All of this drove Rhys off the edge and he had a rage stroke.

Shelly left him to nobody’s great surprise. But he soon ended up with Beth Hunter, to everyone’s surprise. She was a living saint and was a good influence on the raging Rhys. She told him to keep his temper in check or he’d be kicked to the curb. Alas her wholesome ways weren’t enough for dumb ass Rhys and he left Beth once home wrecker Shelly appeared back on the scene. I don’t think too many tears were shed in the bay the day he left. Thankfully, he’s never come back.
