John lost the school bus contract when Harvey saw him kicking Jaden (a random hoon) off the bus. Somehow the council got wind of it. Palmer vowed to take Harvey down. Ooh. Can’t Gina and Roo sort this out?

That lawyer wan that Brax slept with is representing Heath in his custody battle. Brax was very unimpressed, and brought her for a spin in his Ute, then for a threatening walk along some cliffs. He’s lost his River Touch.

Blind dates and dinner plates

Leah went on a blind date with craig from Yabbie Creek. It was a disaster. He bored her and he was unimpressed with her drinking. Leah thought it was hilarious when he walked out and left her there on her own in the restaurant. She ordered a bottle of champagne and got locked. Then she sat at the bar and chatted up one of the boys. Brax came in and saved her but she was expecting a goodnight pash when he dropped her home. He managed to resist her drunken advances on the couch. She should have pulled the puke on him move she used on Roman years ago, that’s a sure fire winner every time.

Lottie has a thing for Dex. She told him she likes guys with muscles and a sense of humour, so he’s halfway there. She told Roo that he needs to get over his ex, April, first. I think Dex will kiss Lottie just as April is about to tell him how she feels.

Sid and the new doctor, Melissa had a bit of a flirt at the dinner. Sid seems to have moved on from Roo so maybe that could go places.

John and Harvey are still engaged in their council politics power struggle. Don’t know about the rest of you but I find this storyline pretty boring.

Rindi is dead

Indi and Romeo are absolute disgraces. They briefly spoke about ending their marriage, then went off pashing/next-level-ing with other people. I am glad they were so invested in their marriage that they could abandon it at the drop of a hat. TUT TUT.

Ruby declared her love for Romeo, but luckily he was too locked to hear her.

Dr. Sid made a great growling noise when he met Logan.

Gina got to the bottom of the Henri-Casey alliance, with the help of Veej. Henri is so stupid. Could she not have waited two months until Casey’s exams were over? She could hardly have expected him to have any sense, he’s a River Relative!

Court case incoming

Overnight bump

Well, Bianca grew a baby bump overnight, decided to leave town, Liam quit his job, and Heath felt the baby kick. How many times has Liam caught Bianca and Heath together? He got mad and basically admitted he doesn’t want the baby. In fairness, who wants to raise a River Baby? They’d be permanently topless, and always causing fights. Your house and head would be wrecked.

Bianca and April are sly hos. Bianca ran straight to Irene when she was upset, but when Irene had cancer, she basically ignored her. April had no interest in Dex till he found a new buddy. HOS.

P.S. How come Bianca never speaks Italian anymore?

P.P.S. Liam Murphy has some neck telling Leah to clear out of her own house for the evening.

New beginnings

Roo has realised that Harvey may not be perfect but he’s the right man for her. She’s made her peace with his secret family and wants to meet his ex and daughter Lottie. They went on a picnic with a hamper and Lottie asked them many awkward questions. Then they went to the diner and Harvey tried to buy off his daughter with an iPhone 4.

The Lottie actress is Indi’s real life sister and had a similar acting style and delivery. I wonder if her outfits will be as interesting as her sister’s?

Heath attempted to use logic on Bianca. He said everything is wrong with her marriage to Liam, even the fact that the baby is Heath’s. Then he put the moves on her but she legged it. Liam suggested they leave town and go on the road, leaving their jobs and everything behind. He’s a practical man. Liam quit his job and Bianca is going along with life on the road.

Poor Dex is wallowing in his single status. None of the nurses he works with want to date him so he’s spending his days playing chess with Sid. His dad offered to go halves with him on a car as Dex reckons a set of wheels is the key to babes. How will Dex get his side of the money? His get rich quick scheme to raise cash involves challenging the diner patrons to chess for money. It’s a novel approach. e’s like a pool hustler with a chess set. He beat John Palmer and Marilyn but the latter didn’t present much of a challenge. Then young Lottie showed him how it’s done in a Kasparov vs Deep Blue moment. Poor Dex was schooled and lost all of his winnings. He’s back to the drawing board with making money but has made a new geeky friend.

That was a Heath-centric episode. He snitched on Casey and Henri, then told Bianca to leave Liam and be with him. She may as well, because Liam is never going to come to terms with the River Baby.

Poor Darcy is very excited about the baby. She’s had a tough life so far.

Casey and Henri covered up their love affair, and fooled Gina. They live to ride another day.

Bad boy makeover

Dex found two college mates who gave him girlfriend advice when they saw April’s name on his copy. They said he didn’t have a chance of getting her back due to his nice guy image. He needed their help in the form of a bad boy makeover. They all went to the bar for shots and lessons in being elusive. Can’t see it ending well. If this works, April is a simpleton. Maybe he’ll take it to heart and join the river boys.

Poor Felix is a desperate actor. Fair play to Sasha, she didn’t desert her brother or forget about him, unlike Xavier and Brendan. Her plan to live with Felix in the city didn’t work out and she came back to the farm.

Henri is going to take a job at the school, but has a lot to consider, not least her affair with Casey. I can see the doo-doo hitting the fan before long. Casey has very bad timing with his text messages. They’ll have to take a break until after his exams. Casey will go off the rails before long I’d say. Maybe he’ll threaten to leave school again.

Timotei ad redux

Haha Dex loves April and sees her as some kind of hair-tossing goddess. He was eyeing her up at Sasha’s 16th birthday party. Aww cute.

Sasha thought, now that she’s 16, she could take off to the Citee, and become a hairdresser, with Felix in tow. Sid put her straight. So she snuck out after dark.

Romeo and Indi are boring and possibly breaking up.

Brax’s intimidation of Steve got Ruby off the drug charge. So Morag’s off. I would like a Morag and Brax spin-off crimefighting show – “she’s above the law, he’s below it, together they are…”.

Good woman Ruby, she managed to concoct a reason for Morag to stay in town. Ms. Buckton was used as a drug mule by her good friend Steve. Steve is such a good mate that he told the cops Ruby was dealing on the surfing circuit. Sound man Steve.

Romeo told Brax, who was instantly hot on Steve’s tail. I foresee some bashing.

Harvey is getting to know his ex and daughter again. Following some heavy-handed hinting from Marilyn, he told an unimpressed Roo. Harvey is a simpleton.

Harvey’s daughter is sarky and annoying. Just like Harvey, then.

Indi told Romeo off because he chose Ruby over surfing. Then Romeo saw a text from Logan on Indi’s phone. Good. I hope that puts manners on him.

Sasha’s salvation

Sasha’s trial continued but the young lady need fear not, Morag’s on the case. She cross examined Watson, and got her to admit that she used to think that it was a case of accidental death, not murder but her bosses told her to upgrade the case to murder. What’s going on? The jury finds Sasha not guilty, but Stu’s dad swears revenge. Xavier threw her into the ocean to celebrate, he’s a simple kid. They declared their love for each other and all’s well in the bay.

Morag is my favourite character in the show by miles. I’d watch a courtroom drama programme based on her cases – “Justice by Bellingham”, it would be class.

Ruby is continuing her liaison with Steve the surfer dude, who smokes spliffs down the beach. Rube’s not that impressed and doesn’t dig stoners. I don’t see this relationship continuing long term, especially as she’s still holding a candle for Romeo. Steve is playing the decent bloke but slipped a massive package of grass into her baggage ahead of the flight. That’s going to be hard one to explain when they get caught.

Marilyn has a new client in her hairdressing salon. This woman has a teenage daughter called Lottie and an ex husband who is none other than Roo’s boyfriend Harvey. This could get awkward, especially as she asked Harvey to move out of his own house so she and her daughter can move in.

On trial

Sasha’s on trial. Morag’s her lawyer. Watson’s agin her. Sasha said Watson was nice to her down the station, but has now changed her tune. Xavier flinched at his mentor being slagged off.

April knows about Casey and Henri. Henri’s gonna quit teaching so the affair can continue. Casey was smiling like a simpleton when he heard.

So, when were you going to tell me you were leaving?

In grand oul Summer Bay tradition, Elijah tells Leah he’s leaving, on his leaving day. Like so many before him, (Geoff, Annie, and so on) the Rev is only dying to get out of town. He’s going to Another Parish. He had a hooley on the beach before he left, and cleared up any stray plotlines while he was at it. See ya later, Rev.

Leah told Brax a barefaced lie when she said she wasn’t interested in him. The truth will come out in the wash.

Liam went MENTILE at Eddie and smashed his guitar. All because Eddie nicked Liam’s lyrics. Fair enough, I thought. The bauld Eddie is denying all culpability, however. What’s that about? What is he playing at? Is he someone’s long-lost relative or something?

April caught Casey and Henri having a secret after-hours pash in Angelo’s. Knowing her capacity for keeping secrets, the whole Bay will know before long.

Sasha the Bashed Basha is going on trial “tomorrow”. This will be good. I hope Morag features heavily.

The Rockstar and the Rebel

Brax spent most of the episode putting out fires. First he had the issue of fighting among his staff. Liam and Heath engaged in fisticuffs twice in the space of a few minutes. Heath keeps goading Liam about Bianca and the baby and Liam keeps rising to the bait. Brax had a chat with his misguided bro and tried to get him to cop on but I doubt it will do much good. I can’t see how the two of them can continue to work in the same restaurant which will be a problem for Liam, there aren’t many other employers in the Bay for a man his age. Police/Healthcare worker are about all that’s left considering that he’s already been fired from a school teacher’s job.

Brax’s next problem was dealing with Leah. Once Elijah told him that Leah was in love with him, Brax went cold on them spending time together. He let her know about it too, telling her that there couldn’t be any more calling around or cooking dinner. Leah is going to freak out when she finds out it was Elijah who spilled the beans.

VJ was the final problem for Brax. At first, he decided that an embargo was the best solution which meant an end to fixing the bike. Veej didn’t take the news very well and went on the rampage, knocking over bins and skulling cans with the boys on the beach. Brax relented and said they could rekindle their bike building but it’ll be difficult until the Leah matter is resolved. Meanwhile poor VJ is stuck in the middle. I hope he doesn’t get anymore bad news, he’s likely to take over the river boys and go on a crime spree Johnny Cooper would be proud of.

I think that Brax got an Irish tattoo. He was driven to it when Veeeej asked “you loved Charlie, didn’t you?”. Perhaps the bauld River Boy was afraid he was forgetting his lady love, and got the tattoo to remind him.

Elijah, like a dickhead, called around to Brax’s, to tell him Leah is in love with him. Sly one, Rev.

In other couple-y news, Gina is taking the opportunity to lay down some ground rules with John, and Roo is trying to be more romantic with Harvey. Yay and puke, respectively.

Do you think we should call Harvey and Roo, Hoo, or Rarvey?

Moving on

Leah gave Brax a proper serv in the diner. She is totally obsessed with Brax and she reckons that Veej idolises Brax, dum move Vj. Brax came up with a great plan to get them both working on fixing up Heath’s old trail bike. They’ll be spending afternoon’s fixing up “carbies” from now on. Veej must be very confused, he has a different male role model hanging around with his mother every few months.

Ruby has some interest from a new surfer dude, Steve, from the circuit. She’s pretending to playing it cool, but is secretly kissing him on the sly. Romeo is a bit suss, reckons that Steve could be a stoner or a drug dealer. There hasn’t been a stoner in the Bay since James smoked his way around town. Ruby is loving her new smart phone and spent most of the episode playing with it. She was staring at photos of Romeo on it when nobody else was around. All of this makes Indi look a bit of a fool as she was saying it’s great that she can trust Ruby again now. That mightn’t last.

Gina and John got back together. He moved out of Summer Bay house, which prompted his housemates to celebrate with champagne. Was he really that bad a guest?

Intervention

Marilyn and Roo staged an intervention for John. He’s too slovenly for their tastes. He said Gina didn’t have a problem with it and threw out the dinner he’d prepared. Wasteful. Later, he overhead Roo telling Dumb Harvey that Gina was actually sick of John’s habits. Poor Mr. JP.

Veej is trying to join the River Boys. The younger members made him carry out some stupid pranks, until Brax, newly released from hospital, caught him and put a stop to it. Veej was arrested for vandalising a police car. Sergeant Watson put manners on him.

Casey hung around Henri’s back garden while she entertained a tipsy Gina. Henri could do with buying some thick curtains, if she’s to continue sleeping with a student.

It’s a flippin’ mess

April got served by Liam on the beach. She’s also in deep doo-doo with Bianca. So she went straight to Dex, to cry on his shoulder. Poor Dex, he’s a bit of a doormat, he puts up with everybody’s crap. Then he had to try and act normal while April paraded around the farm in front of him wearing one of his t-shirts. I don’t know how he managed to contain himself.

Casey was up to his old tricks with Henry. He called over for a “tutoring session” but hid in the bedroom when Heath called over. Why did he hide? Why not say he was there for tutoring? Then they got a little pash in after class, living dangerously.

Liam and Bianca made an adult decision, they are going to move out and get a place for themselves, or are they? That was what I assumed when they said they were thinking of leaving Irene’s house, but it turns out they just moved into Leah’s instead. Why can’t they afford their own place? It makes no sense.

A tangled web

Well, Liam found out that Heath knows about the baby, so he’s mad at Bianca, and so Bianca’s mad at April and never wants to see her again. However, Liam knew Bianca had slept with Heath when he married her, so he should just effin’ get over it. They could have one of these new-fangled families, with multiple daddies, one of whom slept with Bianca and her sister. They could have awkward Christmasses and Anzac Days from here to eternity. Plus, why are they all still living with Irene? Maybe Heath and Darcy could move in and complete the set.

Ma Stu admitted to poisoning Da Stu. She’s not a bad egg. She told Sid where the book of shame was, and he went to her very badly secured house and got it. Drama over for Sasha. Will she still go to trial or what?

Head Honcho Dickhead Number One

Drum roll please………it’s Harvey!

Not surprising really as he is a constant annoyance in the diner, and in the caravan park, and on the council. From whence did he come, anyway? Harvey started his Summer Bay existence as Romeo’s boat buddy, and later, boat rival. He ran for public office to get one up on Alf when Mr. Stewart wouldn’t sell him his beloved Blaxland. The thing is, he won, and now we’re stuck with him. Not only that, but Roo seems to be falling for the flamin’ galah.

The next three dickheads in descending order are April, Elijah and Leah. April has turned into a completely different person, ever since she decided to take it to the next level with whichever “gent” came along next. Unfortunately for all of us, that gent was Heath “Grenade” Braxton.
