Spiritual in Summer Bay
May 1st, 2008 by Ailsa
There have been a lot of religious references in Home and Away recently, between Annie and Geoff who are fairly hardcore, and Sally’s sojourn to Nirvana where she visited a picture of Flynn. Deadly. Not since the days of Saul have we seen so much weeping and gnashing of teeth.
What do you think, do you like the holy mentions, or could you do without them?

It wont be long now before they start mentioning the Catholics and Protestants fighting in Northern Ireland. This HAS TO STOP.

. Celia Stewart (1989-1990, 2000, 2002)
Played by Fiona Spence
Alf’s highly religious younger sister, Celia has spent most of the past fifteen years out helping in Africa. However she almost ruined her brother in 2000 when she was held hostage and he had to pay $50,000 to get her released.

Personally i think it’s a good thing that they’re putting some emphasis on religion/spirituality.
Theres no way a town like summer bay would actually function without any type of religious input so its making it more realistic and i think that at least it leaves some room for thought about the whole issue that people dont really want to think about but should

Hahaha maybe Ray comfort will make an appearance on the show and bless the town with his banana! pmsl.
Seriously though, i can’t believe that the charactes by now haven’t figured out that the town is cursed. I mean, i know soaps have to go over the top with their storylines in order to be entertaining but i mean, homeandway is not a reflection of reality at any level. The stories are absolutely ridiculous, and i only watch it to laugh at how pathetic it is.
And back to the religious question, as i’ve said the writers of homeandaway, it seems, are not sticking to reality. They have had ghosts and psychics and all those kind of supenatural elements to the show all along. And the majority of the characters seem to have very low intelligence too, so yeah of course they’re gonna believe in some invisible pink unicorn in the sky.
I personally think it’s more funny with all the religious connotation, and just makes the characters appear all the more annoying to me.
Just to add, maybe they couldn’t find good enough actors or something, but homeandaway has some of the worst acting i have ever seen on national television. I’m not even exaggerating, it’s that embarrassingly bad. I was just watching it there and someone on it was doing or *attempting an indian accent. It was that atrocious my stomach actually churned. Jesus Christ, it sounded more like a speech impediment. I can do an indian accent, it’s not that effin hard, i just don’t understand why the poducers keep putting these half asses in , do they just extemely low standards?? apprantly so.
