Vinnie Patterson

February 9th, 2007 by Mal

The V man. Vinoire. Call him what you will but Vinnie was a fair dinkum legend. Husband to Leah and father to VJ, his sparkling presence is sorely missed in Summer Bay. He was sent to jail for a crime he didn’t commit. Unlike the A-Team, he wasn’t able to promptly escape. Vinnie served his time and Leah was very excited about his release. But in classic Summer Bay fashion fate struck a cruel blow. There was a riot in the prison on his release day and Vinnie was killed in the fire.

Or was he?

Years later Leah had a big party for VJ’s birthday. She went all out and hired an entertainer in a bear outfit. The bear was a fantastic success. Leah and VJ were very impressed with him but he remained in character and wouldn’t talk to anyone. After he was gone Leah found a note written by the bear. It told her that Vinnie hadn’t in fact died in the fire but was in hiding and the bear was in fact … the V man. He was sad that they could no longer be involved with one another, as it would be too dangerous. So he remains a fugitive figure, a bear on the run. Maybe someday he’ll return to Summer Bay and clean up the town, once and for all.

Or maybe he won’t! Just writing up a new film called Flicka and it stars none other than the V-man himself… Vinoire has gone Hollywood! That’s two ex H&A-ers now, Angel popped up in the Amityville Horror last year.

I’m very happy to hear that. Vinny is one of my favourite charachters of all time. I remember seeing a film with him in it years ago. He was playing two characters in it who were twins. Can’t remember the name of it.

I agree Laura. He’s my favourite character of all time with Morag close behind in second place.
